In April 1805, under direct orders from Jean-Jacques Dessalines and Henri Christophe, invading forces massacred Dominican civilians during their retreat from Santo Domingo, committing brutal acts against men, women, and children. This piece stands as a symbol of remembrance, national resistance, and a warning never to forget.
